Things to do

If you don't want to sit back and enjoy the total peace and quiet, there is so much to do in the area. Within just a few minutes drive or just walking from your chalet, you can:

  • Explore miles of west coast beaches and rock pools
  • Walk the tracks an discover the wetland
  • Come on our guided tour and check out our glow worm grotto, the fresh water crayfish and cave wetas (No extra charge for guests)
  • Discover the native orchids that grow along the tracks
  • Discover the history of the area as you walk along the old logging tracks
  • Watch and listen to the abundent bird life
  • Use our chalets as a base for your whitebaiting
  • Walk or kayak up to Lake Otuhie
  • Walk down to Kahurangi lighthouse (tides permitting)
  • Wander along the Patarau river to the historic Patarau river bridge
  • Explore the many limestone caves and rock formations
  • Stare in awe at the amazing polution free night sky

And if the wind comes up as it does sometimes on the wild West Coast, you can just sit and relax in our totally sheltered garden at Wetland View Park.
